HIGH HEELS LO FI: Aperitif For Destruction: CD

This three-piece band from Toronto, Ontario released this great fourteen song collection of punked up rock songs that will bring a smile to your face. Featuring Cynthia Gould on vocals and guitar, Mandy Wells on bass and vocals, and Doug Lea on drums and vocals who also played with THE WET SPOTS and TRISTAN PSIONIC from Hamilton, Ontario.

Songs that get you smiling and laughing, plus wanting to dance around like crazy…yes please! You can hear the fun that this band is having on this release with songs like “You Win Again, Tequila”, “Rhymes With Puck”, and “You Can’t Lose With Booze”, just these titles will give you an idea of what to expect. Now that a few titles have whet your appetite, just listen to the lyrics that are filled with humor, and a lot of swearing…perfect. Great job on the production, clear, but not slick and a nice thick sound. The band does a great job putting forth the energy on this release that can only be intensified by hearing this in a live setting. They also do a cool version of “Maybe Tomorrow” which is the theme to the TV show The Littlest Hobo.

The band plays fun, goofy music that will put a smile on your face and get you in a good mood, really isn’t that what we want from music, a good time? I sure needed this CD to give me a boost and you do too. Go out and grab a copy and see them live for a fun night that you will be sure to repeat when they come around again.
