HATCHET: Dawn Of The End: CD

This thrash band has put out their sophomore release and it’s a throwback to the old days when a thrash band just went and ripped through the tracks without any bullshit, just get in and get the job done and have a good time doing it.

I remember way back in the 1980s when thrash was really big, this band was what my friends were listening to while I was more into the crossover because of the punk added to it, but as I got older, I went back and listened to this kind of music and got into it. This band does justice to the old bands and carries that legacy into the future, maybe they will get people into some of those older bands by doing albums as good as this one. There are a ton of great riffs pouring out of this album by guitarists Clark Webb and Julz Ramos, some nice stop / starts, heavy driving bass from Travis Russey, and pummeling drums from Eli Lucas, and vocalist Ramos has a great voice that brings a lot of depth to the band. They throw in an instrumental that is really nice and mellow that gives you a break, then right back into the thrash fest again. A few songs that stuck out were “Vanishing Point”, “Silenced By Death” and “Fall from Grace”.

A damn fine album, grab a copy and let the pit start-up in your house. These guys deserve to get their name out there and get the support that they deserve.
