This three-piece punk band from my hometown of Hamilton, Ontario has put out this four song EP that brings back the memories of the bands I listened to back in the mid 80’s when I was in high school.
They play punk with no modern crap added to it, just sloppy punk that you would have heard on a cassette. They have a nice sloppy style with buzzing guitars, twitchy, almost new wave vocals, like when it started out in the 70’s with the guitars, not the later synthesizer stuff. Lyrics on here include how bands from the 80’s are trading on their past catalogue, if America ran out of oil and started to take the oil from Canada’s tar sands in the north by force, how they rock harder than everybody else, and zombie ninja pirates from the deep. As you can tell, they have their serious side, but temper it with a great sense of humor. The production is fuzzy and messy; just what I wanted to hear on this release and it fits perfectly. The songs are “The Kids Aren’t Getting Any Smarter”, “These Aren’t The Drones You’re Looking For”, “Wiggler!?! Versus You”, and “Threat From The Deep”.
I’m sorry that I’m so far from my hometown because I would love to see these guys live.
